Davids Hurghada 2000 onderwaterfoto's

Van 1 t/m 8 oktober 2000 heb ik in Hurghada (Egypte) mijn PADI Open Water duikbrevet gehaald.
Met als doel te gaan duiken en snorkelen bij de koraalriffen in de Rode Zee.
Dit is gelukt en de onderwaterwereld is echt geweldig.
Met een onderwaterwegwerpcamera heb ik met snorkelen een lading foto's gemaakt.
En ik moet zeggen: voor een wegwerpcamera zijn sommige foto's echt spectaculair!

De mooiste staan hier op de pagina.
Als je nog nooit in tropische wateren gedoken hebt, dan geven de foto's een leuk beeld van wat er te zien is.
Als je er wel gedoken hebt, kun je je beter voorstellen hoe het er echt uitziet.
De foto's zijn een magere afspiegeling van de ervaring als je tussen de vissen zweeft. De kleuren en het licht zijn veel intenser. Je hoort de papegaaivissen de algen van de koralen afknagen...
Kortom, het is erg voor herhaling vatbaar.

David's Hurghada 2000 underwater pics

From 1 till 8 October 2000 I have acquired in Hurghada (Egypt) my PADI Open Water divers certificate.
This for the purpose of diving and snorkeling near the Red Sea's choral reefs.
I succeeded in this and discovered that the underwater world is truely magnificent.
I have made a bunch of pictures with a disposable underwater camera.
And I must say: for a disposable camera, some pictures are really astonishing!

The best pics are on this page.
If you've never been diving in tropical waters, these pics will give you a good impression of what you can see there.
If you have been diving there, you are better able to imagine what it really looks like.
The pics are a pale reflection of the actual experience of floating amongst the fish.
The colours and the light are much more intense. You can hear the parrot-fish nibbling the algae off the chorals...
Anyway, it's something to do again and again.
